A Safe, Simple Speaker Check with a Reference Tone
Use a low-volume reference tone to find basic speaker-path issues without treating it as a hearing test.
A test tone is a basic diagnostic aid, not a hearing examination. Begin with the output volume low, especially when headphones are connected. The goal is to notice a missing channel, a buzz, or an obvious distortion—not to push equipment to its limit.
Change one variable at a time
Test the same tone through another speaker or cable before deciding that a device has failed. Check that balance settings are centered and that the source is not applying an unexpected enhancement. Short tests make it easier to isolate what changed.
Stop when the sound is uncomfortable
Do not use a browser tone generator as a hearing test or expose yourself to sustained high volume. If a speaker makes a persistent mechanical noise, disconnect it and seek appropriate technical support.
