When Faster Playback Helps—and When It Makes Review Worse
Use speed controls to review routine audio efficiently without missing names, numbers, or decisions.
Playback speed is useful when your task is familiar: reviewing a lecture you attended, checking a rehearsal, or catching up on routine notes. It is less useful when the recording contains a decision, a number, or a name you must reproduce accurately.
Increase speed in small steps
Start at a modest increase and keep one hand near pause. If you rewind the same sentence twice, the speed is no longer saving time. Slow down around instructions, quotations, and transitions where a missing word changes the meaning.
Make a review trail
Write a timestamp beside each important point. A waveform viewer helps locate a long pause or a change in speaker, but listening remains the final check. For professional records, compare your notes with the source before acting on them.
